Our Founder
Dr. B.L. Gregory was born in Connersville, AR on February 8th. She lost her mother when she was 11 years old and subsequently, she lived a lonely life growing up as a child. During her childhood she developed her own prayer habit by a stump in the woods as she prayed to the Lord. After her prayer, she would go skipping through the woods, singing her favorite song, “Yes Jesus Loves Me”. The Lord filled Dr. Gregory with the Holy Ghost in 1963 and led her to the Lively Stone Church of God, placing her under the leadership of the late Bishop P.L. Scott. She was baptized in Jesus’ name at Lively Stone and for the next 15 years served as a faithful member. While at Lively Stone, Bishop Scott ordained her as an Evangelist. Dr. Gregory was used mightily by God in evangelism for many years during which times she conducted several soul saving revivals. Men, women, and children were filled with the Holy Ghost, healed, and delivered from all kinds of sickness and diseases. The Lord blessed Evangelist Gregory to reach many denominations, which included the pastor’s and their congregations being brought into holiness. Amid God moving during the revivals, Evangelist Gregory lost her husband, the late Brother Dossie Gregory. Many people could not understand how she could keep the revival services going at that time, but God gave her strength to continue his work.​​
In July 1978, Pastor Gregory accepted the Lord’s call into the pastorate. She felt the leading of the Lord to establish the True Gospel Church. She started this church with only 12 members. Pastor Gregory and the members began their work in a store-front building at 6232 Martin Luther King Dr., Wellston, MO. Later, the Lord blessed the church to purchase a building at 6716 Emma Ave, Jennings, MO.

In 1998, Pastor Gregory received a vision from the Lord to build a church. She spearheaded a financial campaign, and the Lord blessed the saints to make and honor their pledges. The selling price of the land at our current location — 11955 Benham Rd — was $400,000; however, the owners dropped the price to $230,000 because it was for Pastor Gregory. Pastor Gregory and the church paid $230,000 in cash for the land.

After the church was constructed and the congregation moved in, the Lord allowed True Gospel to hold its first Sunday Service on August 13, 2000. The Lord also gave Pastor Gregory great financial wisdom — and although the church had a $3,000,000 loan with 15 years to repay, the Lord enabled them to pay it off in just 3 years. To God be the glory! In 2002, Pastor Gregory received her Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from The Aenon Bible College. Dr. B.L. Gregory, “A Doctor for Sin-Sick Souls,” continued to work faithfully for the Lord and His people. On April 7, 2007, Dr. Gregory changed the name of True Gospel Church to True Gospel Miracle Church, in recognition of the many miracles she and the church had experienced.

Dr. Gregory was the proud parent of her only daughter, Lucille Smith, 3 grandchildren and six great grandchildren

Dr. Gregory served True Gospel Miracle Church faithfully for 49 years. From the pulpit to the council room, to the hospital room, serving the bereaved, and those who were incarcerated. She also did manual labor down through the years for the up building of the Kingdom of God. She was a true servant of God! We don’t have a record of all that were saved, healed, and delivered through the ministry of Dr. Gregory, but we know that her record is in heaven.

Dr. Gregory passed from labor to reward on January 3, 2020. The legacy of Dr. Gregory lives on through the members of True Gospel Miracle Church who grew under her spiritual guidance and faithful leadership. While we miss her dearly, we stand on the foundation God allowed her to lay for many years.
